ARP Head Stud Kit

INTENSE G8 ARP Head Studs

It is for good reason that virtually every top professional engine builder relies on ARP Pro Series head studs for their all-out competition power plants. Simply stated, there's not a better stud setup on the market today.

For openers, ARP uses a premium grade 8740 alloy that is rated far superior to "aircraft" quality. Then, each stud is placed vertically in special racks and precisely heat-treated to 200,000 psi. This procedure ensures complete heat penetration and the results are far superior to those lesser quality studs from other manufacturers who just dump pieces in a basket and hope for the best.

Following heat-treat, each stud is centerless ground to make it as close to perfectly concentric as possible. This procedure involves about ten very slight cuts and results in an exceptionally straight part. It's important to note that lesser quality studs are not even centerless ground - the material is thread rolled in bar stock form (mostly before heat-treat, when the material is easier to machine). Because ARP suds are manufactured to such exacting tolerances, you will note that gaskets and cylinder heads literally glide into position and are perfectly aligned - something that won't happen with inferior quality head studs.

Clearly, they are the best on the market today, and the favorite of leading professional engine builders in all forms of racing including us.

Powerbond SFI-Approved Damper

INTENSE TT G8 GT Powerbond Balancer Most standard harmonic balancers are assembled with inserted dampening rubber which won't handle the torque forces and higher revs the modern engines generate. This leads to spinning of the inertia ring resulting in loss of timing accuracy and eventual component separation. Often these balancers are made of relatively weak Grey cast iron which often cracks in the keyways and centre webbing.

Even expensive all steel or alloy performance balancers from most manufacturers use similar rubber inserts which still break down over time in the same way as standard balancers.

POWERBOND balancers eliminate these common failures in standard and performance balancers by positively bonding the dampening rubber to the metal components under extreme heat and pressure. The state of art bonding process used on all POWERBOND models eliminates spinning of the inertia ring and separation of the dampening material in even the most highly stressed applications.

Cam Swap with AFM and LOMA Removal

INTENSE TT G8 GT Cam Swap

We installed a higher lift cam in our INTENSE G8 TT GT for more power and to help move all the boost. In order to run the higher lift cam we needed to disable the Active Fuel Management and remove the Lifter Oil Manifold Assembly. We used the following components to accomploish this:

    1. CompCams custom camshaft
    2. LS7 lifters
    3. LS2 cam gear and timing chain
    4. INTENSE TT G8 GT Cam Swap
    5. TFS chrome moly pushrods
    6. Pac 130 pound valvesprings
    7. Titanium valvespring retainers
    8. Reprogram ECM to remove AFM and LOMA
